Russia’s military launched massive drone and missile attacks on different parts of Ukraine on Monday.
During this time, energy infrastructure was mainly targeted. Three people were killed in these attacks. This attack started around midnight on Sunday and continued till Monday morning.
This appears to be the biggest attack in the last few weeks. Several groups of Russian drones were moving towards the eastern, northern, southern and central regions of Ukraine. After this, several cruise and ballistic missiles were also fired.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned the Russian bombing of his country overnight and in the morning. He said that more than 100 missiles of different types and about 100 Shahid drones were used in this.
The Ukrainian leader said some people were killed and many others were injured. He also confirmed that the Russian attack had caused significant damage to Ukraine’s energy sector.
Zelensky said, ‘Like Russia’s previous attacks, this was also disgusting in which important civilian infrastructure was targeted. Western regions from Kharkiv and Kiev to Odessa were targeted.’
Electricity and water supply disrupted in the city
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that explosions were heard in the capital Kiev. Due to the attack, electricity and water supply in the city has been disrupted.
In the wake of the attacks, the city administration announced plans to open shelter-like centers for civilians where people can charge their devices and get refreshments during power outages.
Such centers were first opened in Ukraine in the autumn of 2022, when Russia attacked and targeted the country’s energy infrastructure.
Igor Polishchuk, mayor of the western Ukrainian city of Lutsk, said a multi-storey residential building and unidentified infrastructure were damaged in the attack.
One person was killed. Another died in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, where the attack sparked several fires, regional chief Serhiy Lysak said.
A dozen houses were damaged and two were completely destroyed. Lisak said one person trapped under the rubble was rescued.

One person was also killed in the southeastern, partially occupied region of Zaporizhzhia, regional head Ivan Fedorov said. According to Fedorov, an infrastructure unit was damaged and caught fire.

Ukraine’s private energy company DTEK initiated emergency power cuts, saying in an online statement that energy workers across the country work 24/7 to restore power to Ukrainians’ homes.
The attack prompted Polish and NATO air defense units to be activated in the east of the country, the military said. Meanwhile, in Russia, officials reported Ukrainian drone attacks overnight and early Monday morning.
Four people were injured in Russia’s central region of Saratov, where drones targeted residential buildings in two cities. One drone hit a high-rise residential building in the city of Saratov, local authorities said.
The second drone hit a residential building in the city of Engels, home to a military airfield that has been attacked before.
The Russian Defence Ministry said a total of 22 Ukrainian drones were intercepted during the night and morning over eight Russian regions, including Saratov and Yaroslavl.
