Beijing. Russia’s state-of-the-art fighter aircraft Sukhoi Su-57 was displayed for the first time at China’s Zhuhai Airshow, but the aircraft became a victim of criticism and mockery on Chinese social media platforms. Russia had declared this aircraft as its 5th generation stealth fighter jet, but Chinese users and aviation experts exposed flaws in its design and construction. Even before the aircraft was displayed at the airshow, many of its defects came to light through pictures and videos on social media. After making headlines on Chinese social media platforms, experts criticized the poor materials and defective parts used in the construction of the plane. Experts questioned the structure of the aircraft, and also described its maintenance costs as excessive. The most prominent of the criticisms raised against the Su-57 in China was that Russia sent its prototype to the airshow, while China has already introduced its indigenous stealth aircraft J-20 in production variants. Comparisons between the aircraft are being made on Chinese social media, highlighting the Su-57’s technical flaws and design weaknesses. Russia had planned to attract foreign buyers by sending this aircraft to the Chinese airshow, but now concerns about it have increased. Experts believe that this criticism may affect the sales of Su-57 not only in the Chinese market but also in other countries.
