US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller issued a release after Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The release said Blinken met Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Fiuggi, Italy.
The release further said that Secretary of State Blinken and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed the enduring commitment of the United States and India to deepen bilateral relations. He underlined the United States’ desire to continue close coordination with India to address global security challenges.

Jaishankar and I met today in Italy to discuss the importance of our continued close cooperation in promoting global security and prosperity.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted that we are working with our Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific allies to address global security challenges, including the PRC and DPRK’s support for Russia. “Together, we are promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific in the Taiwan Strait, the Korean Peninsula, and the South China Sea.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday said that no one is going to find any solution on the battlefield and if we talk about the long-running conflict between Russia and Ukraine, people will definitely come to the negotiating table at some level or the other. He said the sooner they do so, the better it will be because the rest of the world is also being affected.
Jaishankar is in Italy on a three-day official visit from November 24 to 26 to attend the meeting of foreign ministers of the countries included in the G-7 group.
During an interview given to the Italian newspaper ‘Corriere Della Sera’, the Foreign Minister said that today we are facing two major conflicts simultaneously. This is putting the entire international system under great stress.
In the published interview, he was quoted as saying – ‘And we cannot just become spectators and say that it is okay, this is the way. This may or may not work. We won’t know until we try. But we believe that countries need to take initiative on both these conflicts (in Ukraine and West Asia). He further said that no matter how difficult it may seem, try to find some common ground which is what we have today.
On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar reiterated that India thinks there should be diplomacy to find a way to end the conflict and that is what we are trying to do. The Russia-Ukraine conflict, which began in February 2022, entered its 1,000th day on November 19.
