A week after announcing their participation in the contest, the Miss Universe Organization has ruled out Saudi Arabia’s participation this year.
The Miss Universe Organization has denied recent reports that Saudi Arabian model Rumi Alqahtani is competing in this year’s pageant.
“However, Saudi Arabia is not yet among the countries that have fully confirmed participation this year,” the statement said. “Until it is finalized and ratified by our approval committee, Saudi Arabia will not have the opportunity to participate in our prestigious competition.”
Saudi model had claimed
This statement comes after Miss Saudi Arabia Rumi Alqahtani posted on social media last week. Alqahtani had announced that she was going to participate in the beauty pageant.
In this statement she claimed that she would be the first participant from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe pageant. However, after this statement of Miss Universe Organization, she has not removed the post from her Instagram account.
