SCO member countries should recognize territorial integrity and sovereignty: Jaishankar – NNSP

Islamabad. India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has exposed China and Pakistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Addressing the SCO summit, Jaishankar raised the issue of violation of Indian sovereignty due to Pakistan-China CPEC project. He said that cooperation among SCO member countries should be based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.

It is important that all countries recognize territorial integrity and sovereignty. For this, a real partnership should be built and not a unilateral agenda should be pursued. Pointing towards CPEC, the External Affairs Minister said that SCO cannot progress if we pursue only selected practices of the world such as trade and trade routes.

Let us tell you that India is concerned about CPEC because this project passes through Pakistan occupied Kashmir, India considers this area as its integral part. Jaishankar said at the SCO summit that the primary goal of the SCO is to counter terrorism, separatism and extremism. This is even more important in the present times. This requires honest dialogue, trust, good neighborliness and commitment to the SCO Charter. SCO needs to be firm and determined in combating these three evils.
