Many e-commerce websites have now come under the police radar for allegedly selling clothes with pictures of criminals.
Cyber wing of Maharashtra Police has also registered a case against many websites.
It is reported that during the investigation, officials found T-shirts with prints of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi on these websites. Earlier, this matter had gained a lot of attention on social media also.
According to the report, officials of the cyber wing of the police had found T-shirts on Flipkart, Etsy, Ali Express and T-Shopper during the investigation.
These t-shirts allegedly had photos of Dawood and Bishnoi. After this, the police have registered a case on Thursday. It is reported that a T-shirt with Dawood’s photo was being sold on Etsy for around Rs 1500.
Maharashtra Cyber Cell says, ‘These products which idolize criminals promote distorted images (values) in the society, which can pose a big threat to the society.
These can influence young minds in a wrong way.
Indian agencies are looking for Dawood for his role in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. At the same time, more than 70 criminal cases are registered against Lawrence.
Even on November 5, some pictures had surfaced on social media, in which it was seen that clothes with pictures of criminals were being sold on e-commerce websites.
Then, after criticism on social media, Meesho removed the clothes from the website. In the conversation, the company spokesperson had said, ‘We have taken immediate action to deactivate the products. Meesho is committed to providing a secure and reliable platform to all its users.
