Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Friday.
A few minutes had passed after his speech when he again started singing Kashmir raga. Without worrying about his country, he compared Kashmir with Palestine.
The Prime Minister of the country that harbors terrorists said that to ensure permanent peace, India should bring back Article 370 and engage in talks for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
He even said that India is taking unilateral and arbitrary steps in Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, Shahbaz Sharif said, “Like the people of Palestine, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have also struggled for a century for their freedom and right to self-determination.
Instead of moving towards peace, India has retreated from its commitments to implement Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
“These resolutions mandate a referendum to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their fundamental right to self-determination.”
Important points of Shehbaz Sharif’s speech:
Since August 5, 2019, India has taken unilateral illegal steps to implement what is ominously touted by its leaders as a final solution for Jammu and Kashmir.
Nine lakh Indian soldiers are terrorizing the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir with harsh measures. There have been prolonged curfews, killings and kidnapping of thousands of young Kashmiris.
India is confiscating lands and properties of Kashmiris and settling outsiders in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in order to convert the region into a Muslim majority. The Kashmiri people are steadfast in rejecting the false Indian identity that New Delhi seeks to impose on them.
India’s policy of brutal coercion and repression in Kashmir has ensured that Burhan Wani’s legacy will continue to inspire the struggle and sacrifice of millions of Kashmiris.
Their heartbreaking stories remind us that behind each statistic lies a human life, a dream and a broken hope.
The fear of attack has started troubling Pakistan
What is even more worrying is that India is engaged in a massive expansion of its military capabilities, which are essentially being used against Pakistan.
Its war principles envisage a surprise attack and a limited war under nuclear threat.
India has rejected Pakistan’s proposals without thinking. India’s leadership has often threatened to cross the Line of Control and occupy Azad Kashmir.
I want to say in clear words that Pakistan will give the most decisive reply to any Indian attack.
India should withdraw the unilateral and illegal measures taken since 5 August 2019 and start dialogue. The Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved peacefully in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
