After a long wait, the decision of the Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly regarding Shiv Sena and its MLAs came on Wednesday.
While this decision breathed new life into the Eknath Shinde faction, Uddhav Thackeray got a huge blow. Speaker Rahul Narvekar, while reading the long decision, said that according to the constitution of Shiv Sena, the real faction is that of Eknath Shinde.
He cited the party’s constitution, organizational structure and majority of MLAs and MPs as the basis behind this. Now a hearing is going to be held from January 16 regarding the split in NCP.
It is being said that a decision in this regard will be taken by 31st. But the decision regarding Shiv Sena has also given tension to NCP’s Sharad Pawar.
The reason for this is the basis on which the real authority over Shiv Sena was declared to be of Eknath Shinde group. Looking at them, Ajit Pawar may get an edge in NCP.
If the Speaker’s decision goes in favor of Ajit Pawar faction, it will be a big blow for Sharad Pawar and team before the Lok Sabha elections.
Sharad Pawar’s statements after the decision on Shiv Sena also show that he is apprehensive. He said that the language of the MLAs of Shinde group was indicating that they would not follow the guidelines set by the Supreme Court.
He said, ‘We cannot rule out that these arguments will not be applied while considering other cases also.’
It is clear that Sharad Pawar is apprehensive about the future of the party and he feels that the decision may go in favor of Ajit Pawar’s faction because they have more number of MLAs. Ajit Pawar faction claims that they have 40 out of 54 NCP MLAs.
He has staked claim on the party’s name and symbol in the Election Commission. Not only this, there is talk that some more MLAs may change sides in the coming days.

In this way, this is a challenging situation for 83-year-old Sharad Pawar. Rahul Narvekar had also based the decision of the Election Commission on Shiv Sena.
He said that the Commission believes that the Eknath Shinde faction is the real Shiv Sena. The Commission’s decision on NCP can also come any time.
Ulhas Bapat, an expert in constitutional matters, believes that the Pawar faction may face a setback, like Uddhav Thackeray has suffered. He said, ‘The same arguments given in the Shiv Sena dispute can also be used for the division in NCP. Only Ajit Pawar faction can be declared the real NCP.
