Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy says that the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh will stay in India for now.
He has no plans to leave right now. He gave this information on Wednesday. Joy said, “Hasina is healthy and my sister is with her but the former Prime Minister is very upset.”
Joy said that he is upset that Bangabandhu gave his life for the country. The country has made a lot of progress in the last one and a half decade. Despite this, he was thrown out.
Sheikh Hasina’s son said that if law and order is not restored soon, Bangladesh will suffer the same fate as Pakistan. He said that he is waiting to see how Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus will run the country.
Let us tell you that Sheikh Hasina reached an Air Force station near Delhi on Monday and was later sent to a safe place in Delhi under tight security. Hasina is accompanied by her sister Sheikh Rehana.
During an interview with Deutsche Welle, when Joy was asked about Hasina’s plans to seek asylum in a third country, he said, “These are all rumours. She has not taken any decision on this yet. She will stay in Delhi for some more time. My sister is with her. So she is not alone.”
Let us tell you that Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Wajed is the regional director of the South-East Asia region of the World Health Organization, whose headquarters is in New Delhi.
Hasina’s plans to visit London have been put on hold after Britain dilly-dallyed over granting her asylum. Rehana’s daughter Tulip Siddiqui is a member of the British Parliament.
Joy, who spoke on the current instability in Bangladesh, was also asked if he had any plans to join politics, to which he smiled and said, “There are no such plans right now. This is the third time a coup has been carried out against our family.”
He said all his family members except Hasina were already living abroad for a long time and there was no possibility of Sheikh Rehana or any other family member joining politics.
