Two more murder cases have been filed against ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, taking the total number of cases against her to 94, media reports said on Wednesday.
Sheikh Hasina (76) resigned last month and moved to India.
At least 94 cases have been registered against Awami League leader Hasina so far, most of them linked to killings during massive student protests against the controversial quota system in government jobs.
Hasina and 26 others were on Wednesday charged with the murder of a Dhaka resident during a protest on July 19, the Daily Star newspaper reported.
The deceased’s wife lodged a case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Afnan Sumi, who asked the Police Bureau of Investigation to submit a report after investigation.
Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and several leaders and activists of the Awami League and its front organizations are accused in this case. The wife of the deceased has alleged in her complaint that her husband was shot dead in front of Bangladesh Television Bhawan on 19 July.
Another case in connection with the death of a student in Jatrabari area has been registered against Hasina, former law minister Shafiq Ahmed, former attorney general AM Amin Uddin, Supreme Court lawyer Tania Amir and 293 others.
The mother of the deceased student lodged a case at Jatrabari police station on Sunday.
According to the case statement, the complainant alleged that his son had participated in the reservation reform movement on August 5 and was shot at around 9 am when he was crossing the Jatrabari police station.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
