Till now only religion and class were asked in the census, but this time sect will also have to be mentioned. Caste census has also been demanded by many opposition parties and NDA allies.
The government has not yet taken any decision on this, but a consensus has been reached on asking the sect.

It is believed that this may be an attempt to counter the opposition’s demand for caste census. Let us tell you that till now the BJP government is not saying anything openly regarding the caste census.
Leaders like Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, Chandrababu Naidu, Anupriya Patel included in NDA have advocated caste census. Opposition parties Congress, SP, RJD are very vocal about this.
There will be impact of sect in states like Jammu and Kashmir also
