Situation worsened in Bangladesh, PM Sheikh Hasina resigned

Dhaka. Sheikh Hasina has resigned from the post of Prime Minister amid the deadly violence that has been going on in Bangladesh since last month. Bangladesh Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman confirmed that Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister on Monday. With this, Hasina has left Dhaka and gone to a safe place. Meanwhile, news agency Reuters has reported that Sheikh Hasina has left for India in a military helicopter.

Sheikh Hasina along with her sister has left the Prime Minister’s official residence ‘Ganabhaban’ and moved to a safe place. Let us tell you that violent protests are going on in Bangladesh to end reservation in government jobs. The protesters were continuously demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Finally, Hasina resigned from her post on Monday.

The crowd broke the curfew


Thousands of protesters defied a nationwide curfew and marched through the streets of Dhaka and later attacked the prime minister’s official residence. Soldiers and police with armoured vehicles had blocked roads leading to Sheikh Hasina’s office in the capital, Dhaka, by placing barbed wire but the crowd took to the streets and broke the barricades.

Interim government will be formed- Army Chief

After Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, Bangladesh Army Chief Waqar-uz-Zaman held a press conference in Dhaka. He said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned. Soon an interim government will be formed to run the country.”
