Dubai. Before takeoff, smoke suddenly started coming out of the engine of Emirates Airlines flight EK547, causing panic among the 300 passengers on board the flight. The incident happened around 9:30 pm when the boarding of passengers in the Boeing 777-300 aircraft was almost complete. At the same time, smoke was seen coming out of one of the engines of the aircraft, causing panic among the crew and passengers. The incident took place at Chennai’s Anna International Airport where a major accident was averted. The airport fire brigade was immediately informed, which reached the spot and handled the situation and started investigating the engine. Initial investigation found that the smoke came out due to excess oil being filled in the engine. The technical team said that the engine had heated up due to overfilling, due to which a small spark started causing smoke. However, the fire was immediately controlled and any major accident was averted.
