Snowfall wreaks havoc in Britain, Meteorological Department issues yellow alert

There has been continuous snowfall in Britain for the last several days. Due to snowfall, on one hand the weather has become pleasant, on the other hand life has also been affected.

Due to heavy snowfall, schools are closed, trains are running late, driving on the roads has also become difficult. Along with this, an appeal has been made to the elderly and children to remain safe.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for snow in northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, central and southern Wales and eastern counties from the Scottish Borders to Norfolk. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has warned of possible dangers this week. More than 5 inches of snowfall has occurred in many areas. A thick sheet of snow has covered houses, roads and vehicles.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for the Midlands and Southern England. People have been appealed not to come out of their homes. Earlier warnings had been issued for Northern England and the Midlands. However, snowfall also occurred in areas not covered by the alert, including central London.

Meteorologists said the Arctic sea air mass is causing frequent snowfall. It will be very cold in many areas of Britain throughout the week.

More than 220 schools were closed across the UK, including around 140 in Wales. The University of Derby also closed its campuses in Chesterfield, Buxton and Leek due to the weather. Thousands of passengers faced problems due to delays and cancellations in the rail network.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of a sharp drop in the temperature at night, in some parts of Scotland the temperature will reach minus 3. degrees Celsius and in some parts of Southern England the temperature will reach minus 1 degree Celsius.
