Stampede at Air Force air show: Five killed, more than 90 injured

Chennai. The stampede during the Indian Air Force air show forced the people who came to watch the air show to face a tragedy. About 15 lakh people had gathered to watch this air show organized on Marine Beach. When the air show ended, there was a stampede in the crowd, due to which five people died and more than 90 people were injured who were admitted to the hospital.
The main reason for this incident was the scorching sun and heat. Considering the severity of the weather, people stood in the sun for several hours, due to which the condition of many worsened. According to reports, one person among those who died had suffered a heart attack. The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical and they have been admitted to the hospital. Where his treatment continues. The air show ran from 1 pm to 3 pm on Sunday. During this program, people saw the amazing acrobatics of the Air Force planes, but as soon as the show ended, there was an uproar among the people to return. It is clear that due to the heat people tried to move out quickly, resulting in a stampede and this accident.
The shocking thing is that no warning was given to the people about this incident. BJP is attacking the government regarding this. Since it was extremely hot in Chennai, this incident has become a big warning for holding summer events. This is not the first case of deaths due to heat. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, about 48,900 deaths occur every year due to heat between 2000 and 2019, of which 45 percent occur in Asia. In 2010, 56 thousand people lost their lives due to heat in Russia, which has become a dark chapter.
This incident has once again proved how important and necessary proper management and security arrangements are for such events during the summer season. The local administration should take more precautions for such events in future, so that any kind of tragedy can be avoided. DMK MP Kanimozhi said the incident was very sad and painful and unruly mobs should be avoided. He said the news of the death of five people is very sad and painful when people watching the military flying adventure program held at Marina Beach in Chennai faced problems due to the crowd and the temperature was very high. Uncontrollable crowds should also be avoided.
