Doctors in Taiwan have successfully removed more than 300 stones from the kidneys of a 20-year-old girl after a stone operation.
The Independent reports that the girl drank bubble tea instead of water to prevent dehydration.
He told the doctors that he was not enjoying drinking plain water, so he quit. He was admitted last week after suffering from lower back pain and fever.
After examination, doctors found out that he had more than 300 stones in his kidneys.
The 20-year-old girl, named Xiao Yu, was admitted to Chi Mei Hospital in Tainan city last week. He complained of severe lower back pain as well as fever.
Doctors discovered from an ultrasound scan that her right kidney was swollen with fluids and contained hundreds of kidney stones.
According to CT scan, the size of the stone was between 5 mm and 2 cm. Further testing revealed that there was also a problem of high blood pressure.
The girl said- I was not enjoying drinking water.
When the doctors tried to find out from the girl the reason behind her condition, they found out that she was not enjoying drinking plain water.
After which he kept himself hydrated with bubble tea, fruit juice and other drinks for years. The adverse effect of this was that fluids accumulated in his kidneys and took the form of stones.
Doctors told the reason for stones
According to reports, doctors conducted a 2-hour long surgery and removed at least 300 stones from his kidney. After the procedure, the woman’s condition was stable and she was discharged after a few days.
Surgeon Dr. Lim Chye-yang, who led the operation. He says kidney stones can be caused by a few things, including inadequate water intake or not eating a diet rich in calcium and protein.
“Adequate water intake is important to dilute the minerals in urine,” he said. “If the body lacks enough water, minerals can easily accumulate in the urine, increasing the risk of stone formation.”
