On one hand, Vande Bharat is making the travel of people in different parts of the country easier.
At the same time, some unruly elements are targeting Vande Bharat train. A similar incident happened in Chennai-Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express.
Here some unknown people pelted stones at a speeding train on Sunday. The recently introduced Vande Bharat Express train was between Gangaikonda and Narikinaru stations at around 10 pm on Sunday after leaving Chennai Egmore station at 2.50 pm.
During this, mischievous elements pelted stones at it. No passenger was injured in the stone pelting but the incident spread panic among the passengers.
The train reached Tirunelveli Railway Junction at 10.40 pm. After this, the technicians inspected it and estimated the damage. Damage to windows made of toughened glass has been minimal.
According to technicians, these can be replaced when the train goes for weekly checkup on February 6.
Therefore, temporary repairs were made to get the train running again in Chennai at 6 am on Monday (February 5), sources at Tirunelveli Railway Junction said.
Based on the complaint lodged at Tirunelveli railway junction, the Government Railway Police (GRP) alerted Vanchimaniyachi and Gangaikonda stations and the GRP at Thoothukudi.
However, till Monday afternoon the police could not identify the miscreants. We suspect that the miscreants may have carried out the attack under the influence of alcohol or marijuana.
We are collecting CCTV footage from several places where the attack took place.
