New Delhi, Monkey pox has spread in many countries of the world and WHO has also issued a warning about it. Now it has entered India as well. According to the Health Ministry, recently a patient has come to India from abroad, who was in a country where monkey pox disease is spread. The patient has been isolated due to symptoms like monkey pox. All his tests are being done. The patient has been isolated in a designated hospital and currently his condition is stable.
The Health Ministry said that the case is being looked into as per the prescribed protocol. Efforts are being made to find out who all have come in contact with that person. The Ministry said that full preparation has been made to deal with such cases and strong measures have been taken to deal with any possible risk. The central government has issued necessary guidelines to all the states. Also, the states have been asked to remain alert amid the challenge of corona virus. In a recent meeting of the Health Ministry, it was revealed that monkeypox has an infection duration of two to four weeks and patients usually recover with supportive management. It is caused by living with an infected person for a long time and usually by having sexual relations, direct contact with body, wound fluids or using contaminated clothes, sheets of the infected person.
Let us tell you that the WHO had earlier declared monkeypox as a PHEIC in July 2022, after which it was canceled in May 2023. Since 2022, globally, the WHO has reported 99,176 cases and 208 deaths due to monkeypox from 116 countries.
