The expert committee of Uttarakhand UCC, in its recommendations, has given equal rights to all the children in property rights.
In this case, eliminating the distinction of legitimate and illegitimate along with religion, gender, all children have been given equal rights, considering them as biological children.
According to highly placed sources, the committee has recommended giving equal rights in property to sons and daughters for all sections of the society.
Currently there are different provisions for this in different religions. Similarly, the distinction between legitimate and illegitimate children in terms of property rights has also been abolished.
In an important step, illegitimate children have also been considered as biological children of the couple. Due to this, the future of children born outside registered marriages will also be secure.
UCC does not differentiate between children born through adoption, surrogacy and those born through assisted reproductive technology. Children born in all respects have been treated as biological children and given equal rights.
Similarly, after the death of a person, his wife and children are given equal rights in his property. His parents are also given equal rights in his property.
In this way, the rights of the wife and children of the deceased as well as his elderly parents will also be protected. This demand was raised prominently during the public hearing of the committee.
The state cabinet has accepted all the above suggestions along with the original report of the committee, due to which the way has been cleared for comprehensive changes in the laws in the coming time.
