New Delhi. Addressing a press conference, Minister of State for Space Dr Jitendra Singh said that on this day last year, Vikram Lander had a safe and soft landing on the surface of the Moon during Chandrayaan-3 mission. The theme of this year’s celebration is Touching the Moon, Touching Lives: India’s Space Story. On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the main function organized at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said, on this day last year, India created history by landing Chandrayaan-3 on the southern part of the Moon. This is our first National Space Day. This is not only a day of celebration, but also a day of introspection and planning for the future. Dr Jitendra Singh said that we have tried to prepare the program accordingly and give it an academic approach with a futuristic view. It is also an opportunity to make citizens aware of the achievements in the space sector. In a way, this is an occasion that touches the heart of every citizen. With the new policy coming in and liberalisation of the space sector, we have made a big leap in this sector in the last 3-4 years. As the Finance Minister has announced in the budget, we will grow the space economy 5 times in the next 10 years.
