Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today congratulated former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who will take charge of America’s most sensitive secrets as the Director of National Intelligence. Nirmala Sitharaman also recalled her conversation with Ms Gabbard which impressed her.
Finance Minister posted on X, You served America as a soldier for 21 years and became a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve. He further said, best wishes to you from my side.
Tulsi Gabbard changed sides from Democrat
Tulsi Gabbard, who switched sides from Democrat to support Donald Trump’s re-election, will oversee the coordination of 18 intelligence agencies in her new role. Trump has decided to make former Democratic Party member Tulsi Gabbard as DNI.
Gabbard has been a four-time MP and was also a presidential candidate in 2020. Gabbard has experience from three deployments to conflict-torn areas in West Asia and Africa. She recently left the Democratic Party and joined the Republican Party.
Spoke out against US military intervention in the civil war
Tulsi Gabbard has reiterated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words regarding the attack on Ukraine. Tulsi Gabbard, the 43-year-old who is leaving the Democratic Party in 2022, has also criticized US President Joe Biden for his support for Ukraine.
He also spoke out against US military intervention in the civil war in Syria under former President Barack Obama and in 2017 met with Moscow-backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, with whom Washington broke all diplomatic ties in 2012.
Trump will go to Washington in January
Trump, who easily defeated Vice President Kamala Harris last week. He will return to Washington in January after becoming the first Republican to win the popular vote since George W. Bush in 2004.
