The Israeli army carried out a ‘targeted attack’ in Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Friday, in which Hezbollah’s top commander Ibrahim Aqeel was killed. Apart from this, 7 others died and 59 people were injured.
This is the third major air strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7.
It is true that this week the violence shifted dramatically from Gaza to Lebanon. In fact, Hezbollah faced unprecedented attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thousands of communications equipment used by the terror group’s fighters exploded, killing 37 people and injuring thousands.
Let us know who was Ibrahim Aqeel, the top commander of Hezbollah, who was killed by the Israeli army…
Ibrahim Aqeel was the chief of Hezbollah’s top military unit, the Radwan Force. He was also the second-in-command in the armed forces after Fuad Shukr.
Hezbollah commander Shukar and his ally, Hamas leader Saleh al-Aruri, were killed in an attack earlier this year.
Israel was blamed for this attack. However, Hezbollah did not officially confirm his death. But, it was later said that it had targeted an Israeli intelligence base, which was responsible for many murders.
It also kept troubling America
According to the US State Department, Ibrahim Aqeel served on Hezbollah’s top military body, the Jihad Council. He became the mastermind of the bombings.
In the 1980s he was a prominent member of Hezbollah’s Islamic Jihad organization, which claimed responsibility for the April 1983 bombing of the US embassy in Beirut.
63 people died in this attack. It also bombed the US Marine Corps barracks in October 1983, killing 241 Americans.
Ibrahim Aqeel had also given instructions to take American and German hostages in Lebanon at that time. In view of this, America announced a reward of 7 million dollars for providing information about him in April 2023.
