People are forced to live a miserable life in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir i.e. PoK.
There are no facilities for the treatment of the people of Dosut, Bantal, Khwaja Seri and the surrounding areas. Due to the lack of health facilities, people are now fed up and are forced to raise questions.
According to local media reports, at present, people of Dosut and its surrounding villages in Neelam Valley of PoK have made several complaints to the authorities. However, there has been no change on the ground level.
A resident of Dosut in PoK was quoted as saying, “It is very sad to see that there is only one dispensary here and that too is in a bad condition.
The administration does not pay any attention to us. He said, “It has been almost 40 years and there has been no change in this basic health unit, whereas the population of the surrounding areas is more than 10,000. We are overburdened and are demanding more funds and staff for our unit from the local administration.”
People raising their voice on social media
Another resident said there is no hospital in the area and they have to travel a long distance for medical services. He said, “The clinic we have here has not even been given the tag of Basic Health Unit by the administration. We are again requesting the authorities through social media. It is their responsibility to provide these facilities.”
He said, “It has been 49 years and we still don’t have a hospital. It is a very disappointing situation. The nearest hospital is about 8-10 km away and the next hospital is even further away.”
Lack of basic amenities too
Local residents, including the councillor, also lamented the lack of facilities in PoK. They said that lack of development and the governments’ apathy has led to a feeling of alienation among its residents. Apart from healthcare facilities, the region also lacks other basic amenities like drinking water.
Pakistan does not consider POK as its part
According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the geographical area of the country will consist of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh provinces along with the federal capital.
There is no mention of PoK in this. Pakistan calls PoK ‘Azad Kashmir’. Kashmir is mentioned in Article 257 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
It says that PoK will be a part of Pakistan only when the people here decide to join the country. It is worth noting that PoK is divided into two parts. Pakistan calls one part Azad Kashmir and the other Gilgit Baltistan.
