The mobile looted from the gangrape victim led the police to the accused, five arrested

Vadodara On the second night of Navratri, the police have arrested five accused in the case of gang rape of a minor girl in Bhayli, adjacent to Vadodara. A call made from the looted mobile phone of the gang rape victim made it easier for the police to reach the accused. Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar told in the press conference that a case has been registered against the accused under sections of BNS 2023 and POCSO Act 2012. Vadodara Police has arrested the accused within just 48 hours of the incident. During investigation, physical evidence recovered from the crime scene such as broken sunglasses and description of the victim and a call made from the mobile phone stolen from the victim helped in solving the entire case. Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar said that on the basis of mobile CDR, CCTV camera footage and motorcycle number and description of the accused, the police were successful in locating the three accused. The Police Commissioner said that among the accused arrested by the police, all three accused including 36-year-old Altaf Banjara, 26-year-old Shahrukh Banjara and 27-year-old Munna Abbas Banjara are natives of Uttar Pradesh. Investigation revealed that these three accused had come to Vadodara 10 years ago. These people were working as POP in construction work. The accused committed the gang rape in Bhayli on October 4 when the victim, a minor girl, was sitting with her childhood friend. Vadodara City Police will hand over the arrested accused to the Rural Police and they will conduct further investigation. In this case, the rural police will also interrogate two other accused Saif Ali Banjara and Ajmal Sattar Banjara.
