The more Imran Khan is struggling, the more he is getting trapped in the quagmire of lawsuits; Arrested in 7 new cases and sent to jail…

No matter how hard he tries to secure the release of former Prime Minister of neighboring country Pakistan, Imran Khan, all his efforts seem to be backfiring at the moment.

Under the leadership of his wife Bushra Beevi, his party supporters protested and marched in the capital Islamabad for several days but they could not succeed.

Now in the latest development, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday sent Imran Khan on 14-day judicial remand in connection with seven new cases.

ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the case and approved the remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the New Town police station case and six other cases, The Express Tribune reported.

Khan is currently in Adiala jail and was arrested by the police after getting bail in the Toshakhana 2.0 case. Seven cases are registered against him for the protests that took place on September 28, October 4 and October 5.

The court rejected six other cases seeking physical remand from September 28 to October 5 and ordered Khan to be sent to jail on judicial remand. After the judicial remand was approved, he was taken into the custody of the jail police.

The report said that earlier Khan was arrested in six cases related to the protests that took place on September 28, October 4 and October 5. No arrests have been made yet in 28 cases related to the protests of November 24.

The ATC will now hear 13 cases registered in connection with the violence that took place on May 9, 2023, and will also conduct the remand hearing of 1,494 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activists arrested during the November 24 protest march in Islamabad.

The report said that ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah will hear the May 9 case from 9 am to 11 am in Kachari courts. He was later expected to go to Adiala jail for hearing of the case against Imran Khan after his seven-day remand ends.

According to media sources, PTI lawyers have applied in the court to appear in Adiala jail. The police and investigation team are planning to request seven-day physical remand for the PTI founding chairman without producing him in court inside the jail. PTI lawyers Faisal Chaudhary, Salman Safdar, Faisal Malik and barrister Gauhar Adiala will appear in the jail court.

The report says that Imran’s sister Alima Khan may also come to jail. Imran has not met his lawyers and family for the last 10 days. The judge will hear 13 cases related to the May 9 tragedy at 9 am in the court premises.

Around 440 accused including Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Shireen Mazari and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed have been summoned.

The report also said that 1,494 PTI workers arrested in the November 24 protest march could be produced before a special anti-terrorism court by the police stations concerned at the end of their four-day remand.
