Now big news has come regarding the Indian Air Force’s N-12 transport plane, which was the victim of an accident 56 years ago.
The bodies of four people who died in a plane that crashed near Rohtang in Himachal Pradesh have now been found. These bodies were buried under the glacier at an altitude of about 16 thousand feet.
Three bodies have been identified. One of them was Pioneer Corps soldier Malkhan Singh. The name of the other was Narayan Singh who was from the Army Medical Corps.
Apart from this, electronics and mechanical engineer Thomas Charan died in the accident. The bodies of only these three have been recovered.
According to the information, a search operation will be conducted in this area till October 10. It is possible that more dead bodies may be found buried in the glacier.
Malkhan Singh was identified through the voucher found in his pocket. Apart from this, Narayan Singh and Charan could be identified from the paybooks which they had with them. The families of these soldiers have been informed.
On February 7, 1968, a Soviet military transport aircraft crashed. Its debris was first seen in 2003. After this, five dead bodies were found in 2019.
A total of 9 bodies have been found so far. Whereas 102 soldiers were present in the plane at the time of the accident. This plane had taken off from Chandigarh and was about to land in Leh.
After its debris was found 21 years ago, several search operations were carried out. In 2005, 2006, 2013 and 2019, Dogar Scouts conducted search operations here. This time Dogra Scout did wonders.
In 2003, when the wreckage of AN-12 was found. Five years ago, two aero engines, fuselage, fuel tank and cockpit door of the aircraft were found.
On September 18, the Indian Army signed an agreement with TMR under which efforts will be made to speed up relief and rescue operations in the mountains.
Under this agreement, the Army will be given training to deal with avalanches and conduct relief operations.
