The Supreme Court has given the status of senior advocate to 100 lawyers including 21 women in the year 2024

New Delhi . The Supreme Court on Wednesday gave the status of senior advocate to 39 lawyers. These include ten women as well. With this, under the chairmanship of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, 100 lawyers have been given the status of senior advocate in the year 2024 itself. These include 21 women lawyers, whereas in the history of the Supreme Court, only 12 women were given the status of senior advocate before 2024.
The special thing is that these people include lawyers from the age of 39 to 73 years. K Parmeshwar is 39 years old while MC Dhingra is 73 years old. 72-year-old Indra Sahni is also in this list, in whose name the historic reservation decision is also recorded that the limit of reservation will not exceed 50 percent. For the first time, the Supreme Court has appointed a resident lawyer of Manipur as a senior advocate. Ngangom Janiye has been appointed as a senior advocate.
The lawyers who have been given the status include Nalin Kohli, Shadan Farasat, Rahul Kaushik, K Parmeshwar, Rudreshwar Singh, M R Shamshad and Rishi Malhotra, who are also included in the list of senior advocates. The women include Bansuri Swaraj, Aparna Bhat, Anindita Pujari, Indira Sahni, Kavita Jha, etc.
