Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the fear of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ended among the people.
Addressing the Indian diaspora in Dallas, Texas, the Congress leader said that in his first speech in Parliament after the election, he had referred to Abhaya Mudra which is a symbol of fearlessness in all Indian religions.
He claimed that BJP is not able to tolerate this. It is worth noting that Rahul Gandhi has reached America for the first time on a two-day visit as the leader of the opposition.
During his address, Rahul Gandhi said, “The fear of BJP is over. We saw that within a few minutes of the election results, no one in the country was afraid of BJP or the Prime Minister of India, so this is a huge achievement.
This is not just the achievement of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party. This is a great achievement of the people of India who believe in democracy.”
What did Rahul Gandhi say about RSS?
He also said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the parent organisation of the Bharatiya Janata Party, believes that India is based on one idea. Whereas his party Congress believes that India is a country with a plurality of ideas.
Rahul said, “The RSS believes that India is an idea and we believe that India is a plurality of ideas. We believe that everyone should be allowed to participate here, should be allowed to dream and should be given a place regardless of their caste, language, religion, tradition or history. This is the fight and it became clear in the elections when millions of people of the country clearly understood that the Prime Minister of India is attacking the Constitution of India.”
People understood my message in the elections- Rahul
Rahul Gandhi said that whatever he is saying is rooted in the Constitution which he described as the foundation of modern India. Rahul said, “I noticed that when I used to raise the issue of the Constitution, people understood what I was saying.
They were saying that BJP is attacking our tradition, attacking our language, attacking our states, attacking our history.
Most importantly, they understood that whoever is attacking the Constitution of India is also attacking our religious freedom.”
He said that when he emphasized on the Constitution during the elections, people understood his message.
