There have been cases of placing gas cylinders and cement blocks on railway tracks from Kanpur in UP to Ajmer in Rajasthan.
In the past one week, there have been 4 such cases which appear to be a conspiracy to overturn a train. These cases have alerted the railways and vigilance is being maintained.
Anti-terrorist squads and local police have also been activated from UP to Rajasthan. Railway officials say that such incidents are worrying and complete monitoring is being done.
Officials said no accident occurred even after a gas cylinder was placed on the tracks in Kanpur on Sunday evening.
The reason for this was that the driver applied emergency brakes in time. Officials said that petrol and matchsticks were also recovered from the spot in Kanpur.
This has given rise to suspicion that there could be a terrorist conspiracy behind this. In fact, a few days ago, a Pakistan-based terrorist Farhatullah Ghori had released a video.
In this, he had asked the terrorists to try to overturn trains on a large scale and target the supply chain so that India’s infrastructure could be damaged.
Since June last year, 17 such cases have come to light where thick pieces of wood, stones, gas cylinders, etc. were placed on railway tracks.
Or there was an attempt to tamper with the signal. Apart from this, there have also been reports of illegal use of tracks by many social media influencers.
RPF has registered cases in all these cases and investigation is going on. Apart from this, tracks are being monitored closely in sensitive areas. Officials said that it is not possible to conduct intensive checking of tracks on such a long route, but every effort is being made. In many cases, minors have been arrested.
Railway sources say that a terrorist conspiracy cannot be ruled out in these cases. This is why when the incident came to light in Kanpur, the anti-terror squad also reached the spot.
A similar incident happened recently in Solapur, Maharashtra, when a slab was placed on the railway track. Here too, an accident was averted due to the alertness of the driver.
Apart from this, there has been stone pelting on two trains including Vande Bharat Express in the last one week. Such incidents are worrisome for the security of the railways and also create a feeling of insecurity among the passengers.
