There will be heavy rains in September too, worry for some states; What did the Meteorological Department say…

The Indian Meteorological Department has released a new report regarding rain in the country.

According to this, the trend of August will continue in most parts of the country and there will be heavy rains in September as well. According to the report, there may be heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

Due to this, incidents like floods and land slides can happen here. Let us tell you that in August, India received 16 percent more rain than the average.

This was the fifth time this happened since 2001, while it was the 29th time since 1901. However, even the good rain of 287 mm in the month of August could not cool down the heat. The minimum temperature in the month of August is the fourth highest since 1901.

If we look at it regionally, Northwest India received 32 per cent more rainfall than normal. This is the second such occasion since 2021 when so much rain has occurred.

However, the southern parts have received just one per cent more rainfall than normal.

According to the Meteorological Department, although there will be more than normal rainfall across the country in September, some specific areas like North Bihar, North Western Uttar Pradesh, many parts of North East India, North West India and South India are likely to have less than normal rainfall.

It is worth noting that according to the prediction made in mid-April, the country was supposed to receive more than normal rainfall from June to September. Kharif crops have benefited from the good rains in August.

This has raised hopes of good crop production. Apart from this, due to good rains, there will be good moisture in the soil which will be better for the Rabi crop.

However, La Nina has not formed yet and it is expected that it may come by the end of September. It is very unlikely that it will have any effect on the rains. La Nina, which forms during September to November, usually weakens the monsoon in South India.

However, it is too early to say anything about this, IMD Director Mrityunjay Mohapatra said.

Regarding the temperature, he said that it will remain above normal during the day in many parts of the country. However, some parts of northwest, south and east-central India will get some relief.
