The department has predicted rain in Delhi and North-West between December 30 and January 2. Reports suggest that a western disturbance is likely to interact with low-level easterly winds on December 29.

This will have a direct impact on North-West India. In such a situation, amidst cold and fog, one may have to face rain on New Year. However, only light to moderate rain is expected during this period.

It is going to rain in South India also on January 1. The weather forecast issued by IMD said, ‘Due to the effect of north-eastern winds, there may be rain in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu on December 30 and January 1.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain during this period. Apart from Tamil Nadu, the weather may also be bad in Kerala and Karnataka on New Year.

Rain is expected in many parts of these two states in the coming days and this trend will continue till the new year.

In this way, the rain is definitely going to cause some disruption in the New Year celebrations. A drop in minimum temperature can also be seen due to rain.
