Amidst the New Year celebrations, Mumbai has received a threat of serial blasts.

Mumbai Police officials said that an unknown caller made a threatening call to the Mumbai Police and warned that he would carry out serial bomb blasts at various places across the city.

Police have become alert in the city after the incident. Security at special and crowded places has been increased. Officials said that a search is being carried out for making the threatening call.

Mumbai Police officials said on Sunday that on Saturday evening, an unknown caller warned the Mumbai Police about a series of blasts in the city.

The officer said, “Around 6 pm on Saturday, Mumbai Police Control received a threatening call. The caller claimed that there would be serial blasts in Mumbai before disconnecting the call.”

“Police are currently trying to trace the caller,” the officer said. He said that further investigation is going on.

It is noteworthy that earlier on December 27, Jaipur Airport Authority had received an e-mail in which the sender had threatened to blow up the airport.

Police swung into action and searched several major public places and establishments across the city.

However, no explosive device or anything suspicious was found. After receiving the threatening email, Terminal Manager Anurag Gupta had lodged a complaint at Jaipur Airport Police Station.
