There will be torrential rain in these states, IMD issued alert

Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding the possibility of a cyclone forming in the Bay of Bengal. The department said that a low pressure area is likely to form in the south-eastern part of the Bay of Bengal around November 23. This area may become active due to the cyclonic pressure present near the Sumatra coast and South Andaman Sea.

IMD has warned that this system may turn into a depression system over the central parts of South Bay of Bengal in the next two days. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

There will be torrential rain in these states

According to the latest bulletin of IMD, light to moderate rain with lightning and thunder is forecast in Kerala, Puducherry and Karaikal between November 21 and 25. Similarly, Lakshadweep may receive rain on November 21. Rain is likely to continue throughout the week in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places in the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on November 21 and 22. Heavy rain is expected in South Tamil Nadu on 21st and 26th November. At the same time, there may be heavy rain in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 26 and 27 November. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala and Mahe on 21, 26 and 27 November.

Flood like situation in many areas of Tamil Nadu

Due to heavy rains in many parts of Tamil Nadu, a situation like waterlogging and flood has arisen. Houses in Rajagopal Nagar, Pushpa Nagar and other urban areas of Thoothukudi have been flooded. Life has also been affected in northern and delta districts like Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Thanjavur and Nagapattinam due to heavy rains.

Caution advised

IMD has advised people living in these areas to be alert and adopt safety measures. Especially in those areas where flood and waterlogging situation persists, the local administration has intensified relief and rescue operations.
