The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has warned about YouTube channels spreading fake news.

The ministry said that the Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau has exposed 9 YouTube channels spreading fake news and misinformation in India. A list was released on Friday regarding these YouTube channels.

According to this, YouTube channels like Bharat Ekta News, Bajrang Education, BJ News, Sansani Live TV, GVT News, Daily Study, Ab Bolega Bharat, Sarkari Yojana Official and Aapke Guruji are included.

The ministry said, ‘PIB’s Fact Check Unit (FCU) has busted 9 YouTube channels spreading fake news and misinformation in India.

The unit has issued several fact findings in 9 different Twitter threads to counter the misinformation spread by these channels.

The number of subscribers of these channels ranges from 11,700 to 34.70 lakh. The ministry said in the statement that these YouTube channels wrongly broadcast statements derogatory to persons holding constitutional positions including the Chief Justice of India, the Prime Minister, the Chief Election Commissioner.

What kind of fake news are these YouTube channels posting?
Let us tell you some examples of the kind of fake news that was broadcast on these channels. In a video of the channel, it was falsely claimed that the Central Government has banned the use of EVMs in elections.

Similarly, it was said that the government is going to reduce the prices of petrol and LPG cylinders drastically. In some videos it was even claimed that President’s rule has been imposed in the entire country and internet services have been shut down.

A video also falsely claimed that the Chief Justice of India has initiated legal proceedings against the Prime Minister. Action has been taken against these YouTube channels for posting such fake news.
