Bahraich. People in the village Chaukharia of the district are troubled by monkeys. Here monkeys steal tiffin from the bags of students going to school. They snatch flour or roti from the hands of women cooking in the courtyard of their houses. They bite them if they resist. So far, monkeys have bitten more than a hundred people.
Villagers say that monkeys stop people on the way and attack them and take away the food items kept in the bags. If a child tries to free the bag or run away, they directly attack and bite them. Not only this, when women sit to prepare food in their homes, they take away flour, rice, vegetables etc. They even destroy the crops, greens and vegetables grown in people’s fields. Talking to the villagers, it was found that their number is not in hundreds but in thousands. It is being said to be around 2 to 3 thousand. People are so troubled that they have also met the Bahraich District Magistrate to complain about it. Villagers said that the problem of these monkeys has been there for almost two years. Earlier their number was less, so the problem was also less. Now the increasing numbers have also increased the problem.
