In India, 60 percent people pray daily according to their religion.
This has been said in a study conducted by Pew Research Center on the importance of religion in more than 100 countries of the world. According to the report, people of Indonesia are the most religious while people of Japan are the least religious.
According to the study, which was conducted between 2008 and 2023, the most Latin Americans reported praying daily.
In Guatemala and Paraguay, 82 percent said so, while in Costa Rica and Honduras, 78 percent said so. In the US, 45 percent of adults said they pray regularly.
Only 21 percent of adults in the East Asian countries surveyed (Japan, China, Mongolia, North and South Korea, and Taiwan) said they pray daily. This includes 13 percent in Hong Kong and 19 percent in Japan.
Similarly, more than 80 percent of people in the world admitted that religion has an important place in their life.
In sub-Saharan Africa’s Senegal, Mali, Tanzania, Zambia, more than 90 percent of people consider religion to be very important in their lives. This has led to many changes in their daily lives.
In contrast, people in almost all European countries surveyed do not give much importance to religion. In Estonia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Latvia and Finland, 10 percent or less of adults acknowledged this.
However, people in South and Southeast Asia do not share the same views as those in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. In many places in the region, adults report a high degree of importance to religion. For example, in Indonesia, nearly every adult said religion was very important in their lives.
At the same time, only 36% in Singapore and 26% in Vietnam answered yes to this. At the same time, 42 percent of Americans responded positively to this.
Indians are more cautious about food
About 30,000 adults in India were asked about their food choices related to religion. The survey found that people here are more cautious about their food and drink.
67 per cent of Jains avoid eating root vegetables. Only 50 per cent said they would ever eat at the home of someone whose religion has different rules about food.
Rituals for ancestors are also important
The survey found that while few East Asians consider religion very important in their lives or pray daily, most people across the Asian region have spiritual beliefs and practice traditional rituals.
For example, in East Asia, people hold rituals to honor their ancestors.
