The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is about to complete its 100th anniversary of its foundation, said on Monday that it has remained continuously committed to its basic principle of ‘Nation First’.
RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said this at a press conference here on Monday in response to a question whether there is a lack of coordination between the BJP and other Sangh-inspired organisations.
He said, “RSS is going to complete its 100th anniversary (in 2025). So it is a long journey.”
Ambekar said that one thing that has remained constant in this journey is the commitment to ‘Nation First’.
“This has been our vision and every volunteer has believed in it,” he said after concluding the three-day national coordination meeting of RSS-inspired organisations here.
Ambekar said that in a long journey, functioning-related issues are inevitable, but the organisation has a mechanism to resolve these issues.
Ambekar was also asked about the statement made by BJP President J.P. Nadda during the Lok Sabha election campaign in which he had said that the party has moved far beyond the time when it needed the RSS and is now capable of handling its work on its own.
In response to this, Ambekar said, “Other issues will be resolved. This is a family matter.” When asked if everything is fine in the family, he replied, “Absolutely.”
RSS All India Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar termed the incident in West Bengal as ‘extremely unfortunate’ and ‘worrying’.
Ambekar on Monday said girl students at school and college level as well as working women should be imparted self-defence skills for “self-defence” to empower them to protect themselves from such attacks.
Addressing a press conference after the conclusion of the three-day coordination meeting, Ambekar said there was a need to review laws and punitive actions to ensure speedy justice to women who were victims of atrocities.
