Sanjay Kumar Verma, former High Commissioner of India to Canada, has made big revelations on the issue of Khalistan.
In an interview given before returning to India, he told that there was a connection between the Canadian intelligence agency and Khalistani terrorists.
The Canadian government had made Verma a person of interest in the investigation of a case. After this, relations between India and Canada again became tense.
According to news agency ANI, in an interview given to Canada’s CTV News, Verma has accused the Canadian government of promoting Khalistani extremists.
He said, ‘Khalistani extremists are always getting encouragement. This is my allegation. I also know that these Khalistani extremists and terrorists are deep assets of CSIS. I am not giving any evidence.
He said, ‘All we want from the Canadian government is to sincerely understand my concerns and not to support those who are trying to challenge India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.’
He said, ‘What will happen in India will be decided by the citizens of India. These Khalistani are not Indian citizens, they are Canadian citizens and no country should allow its citizens to challenge the sovereignty of another country.

Verma has denied the allegations against him and called them politically motivated. He said, ‘Show me what concrete evidence she (Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly) is talking about. As far as I am concerned, she is talking politically motivated. On allegations of extracting information about Khalistan supporters, he said, ‘I never did any such thing while being the High Commissioner of India.’
He said that it was a matter of national interest to monitor Khalistan supporters elements in Canada. He has informed that the team used to collect information through open sources. He said, ‘We read newspapers. We read their statements. We understand Punjabi, so we read their social media posts and try to draw conclusions from there.
