Washington. Women concerned about abortion rights have decided to hold a sex strike in an unusual protest following Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election. No one will form any relationship or have children during the strike. The women protesting say that Trump’s policies are dangerous for women, and that is why they are resorting to this unusual protest. Vice President Kamala Harris also accused Trump during the election of efforts to impose restrictions on women and said he wanted to end abortion rights. Trump’s opponents consider him worthy of criticism for restricting women’s rights and making objectionable comments against them. With Trump’s re-victory, discussions regarding women’s rights have intensified in America.
The strike was inspired by Korea’s feminist 4B movement, which advocates abstaining from sex with men to challenge gender inequality. The 4B movement, which began in South Korea in 2019, entails women taking four key vows – no sex (biseksu), no dating (byeonae), no marriage (bihon) and producing children with men. Not to do (Bichulasana). The purpose of this movement that started in South Korea was to challenge the patriarchal society. It believes that through protests the birth rate will decline, which will impact the population. Now after Trump’s victory in America, some women have expressed their protest on the lines of this movement. According to him, there is a possibility of strict rules on abortion being implemented during Trump’s presidency, which may adversely affect the reproductive rights of women.
