Mumbai The much-awaited first look of Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja will be revealed on Friday evening. Dressed in maroon and adorned with jewellery, Bappa surprised devotees with his darshan. The main attraction of this year’s Lalbaugcha Raja is a 20 kg gold crown worth Rs 15 crore, donated by Anant Ambani, son of the richest man Mukesh Ambani, and Reliance Foundation.
Anant Ambani has been associated with Lalbaugcha Raja Samiti for the last 15 years. He has been seen participating in many programs of Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganeshotsav. Apart from this, he also attends the idol immersion ceremony at Girgaon Chowpatty Beach every year. Through the Reliance Foundation, the Ambani family has also helped Lalbaugcha Raja Samiti in many health-related initiatives.
Lalbaugcha Raja, popularly known as the King of Lalbaug, is the most visited Ganesh mandal in the financial capital of India. From a common man to a celebrity, lakhs of Mumbaikars are seen standing in long queues at Lalbaug every year to catch a glimpse of this iconic Ganesh idol. The Ganpati festival, which begins on September 7, is a major celebration in Maharashtra. The Ganeshotsav lasts for ten days of joyous festivities, elaborate rituals and ends with the immersion.
