The matter of allegedly mixing animal fat in the laddus of Tirupati temple has now reached the Supreme Court. The petitions of three people including BJP leader Subramanian Swamy will be heard in the Supreme Court on Monday. Apart from the BJP leader, the Supreme Court will hear on Monday, September 30, the petition of former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust chairman and Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy.
Subramanian Swamy has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court demanding investigation into the allegations of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu has alleged that the offerings at Tirupati Tirumala temple have been adulterated with animal meat and other rotten substances. Whereas former Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust and Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy, in his petition, has demanded to investigate these allegations by forming an Independent Investigation Committee (SIT) under a retired Supreme Court judge.
A bench of two judges will hear all three petitions
According to the information, the bench of Justice Bhushan R Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan will hear all three petitions including that of BJP leader Swamy. Hindu Sena President Surjit Singh Yadav has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a SIT investigation into this entire matter. Earlier, a lawyer Satyam Singh Rajput had sent a letter to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on the same matter.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had claimed
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Nadu had claimed that during the tenure of the former Jagan Mohan Reddy government of the state, animal fat was used in the ‘Prasad’ being given by the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati. After Chandrababu Nadu’s allegations, political parties are attacking Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party YSR Congress.
Following the Chief Minister’s allegations, the Andhra Pradesh government, citing a lab report from Gujarat, had claimed that beef, fish oil and pig fat were mixed in the ghee used to make laddus.
