Traffic will resume on Puron Mangi Bridge after 150 years, heavy vehicles will be banned

New Delhi. The right arch of Mangi Bridge is ready, soon permission will be given for vehicles to pass over it. Built 150 years ago behind the Red Fort, this bridge was damaged when a big truck passed over its right arch. This part of the bridge was damaged when a truck collided with a trolley. Now the work is complete. Now there will be a ban on the movement of trucks with high trolleys on the arch. For this, the work of installing height barriers has started just before the bridge, which will be completed soon.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has said that the construction of historical gates and bridges in Delhi is becoming a challenge for the ASI. The main problem is regarding the Mangi Bridge. It is getting damaged due to the traffic passing under it. The ASI keeps doing some work or the other to save the Mangi Bridge which has reached a dilapidated condition. The process of starting work for the conservation of its right arch was started in February. The lower part of the bridge has been strengthened. Semi-circular steel girders have been inserted to repair the damaged part at the bottom of the bridge.
In 2010, half of the collapsed part of this bridge was saved. This bridge connects the Red Fort and Salimgarh Fort. History This bridge located behind the Red Fort was built 150 years ago. It was used to go from the Red Fort to the Salimgarh Fort. Currently, the ring road passes under this historic bridge. Due to it becoming old, the movement of vehicles on this bridge is closed.
