Kurnool. The APSDMA in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday advised people living on the banks of Krishna river to remain alert after a gate of Tungabhadra dam was washed away. APSDMA Managing Director R Kurmanadh said that gate 19 was washed away after a link in the chain broke. The incident took place in Hospet on Saturday night. Kurmanadh said in a release that about 35,000 cusecs of floodwater has flown away and 48,000 cusecs of water will be released downstream. People of Kosiri, Mantralayam, Nandavaram and Kouthalam in Kurnool district need to remain alert. The Managing Director has advised people living near the banks of Krishna river not to cross the river.
