UK PM Office apologizes for serving non-vegetarian food and liquor at Diwali party… – NNSP

The British Prime Minister’s Office, which is facing criticism for serving non-vegetarian food and liquor at the Diwali reception party, has apologized.

The office said on Friday that we understand the concerns of the Hindu community and assure that this will not happen in any future function.

A spokesperson for 10 Downing Street said: “We understand the strength of emotions on this issue and reassure the community that this will not happen again.”

According to the PTI report, the official statement from the British PM’s office did not address the menu. But respecting the sentiments of the community, it was reiterated not to make such a mistake again.

This statement from 10 Downing Street has come after British Indian Conservative MP Shivani Raja wrote a letter to the PM.

In this letter, Shivani had formally expressed her concern to the PM over non-vegetarian food and liquor being served at the reception.

In the letter, he wrote that this program organized at PM House is not in accordance with the customs of festivals celebrated by Hindus.

He criticized the organization of the event, citing “lack of knowledge” regarding Hindu traditions.

He said that representing thousands of Hindus in my constituency, I am deeply saddened to know that even the customs were not taken care of during celebrations in the country’s biggest office.

Earlier, despite controversies over food, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was seen lighting candles and lamps at his residence on the day of Diwali party.

Before Starmer, as the first Hindu Prime Minister of Britain, Rishi Sunak was seen here performing puja and making rangoli with traditions on the day of Diwali.

In his address after the event, Starmer spoke about the importance of the spirit of Diwali as a celebration of unity, abundance and welcome. Along with this, he expressed respect for the contribution of Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities and emphasized on shared values.

The Labor Party, which came to power in Britain after decades, organized a Diwali party on 29 October under the leadership of PM Keir Starmer. Liquor and non-vegetarian food were served in this party, which was criticized all over the world including Britain.
