Ukraine to establish buffer zone in Russia’s Kursk region: Zelensky

Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the purpose of Ukrainian troops entering Russia’s Kursk region is to create a ‘buffer zone’ there. This is the first time that Zelensky has revealed the intention behind the operation launched in the Kursk region.
Earlier, he had said that the aim of the operation was to protect communities in the border Sumy region from the continuous shelling from Russia. Zelensky said that overall our priority in defensive operations now is to destroy Russia’s war capability as much as possible and to retaliate as much as possible. This includes our operation in the Kursk region, which aims to create a ‘buffer zone’ in the area of ​​aggression.
