Kyiv. Russian armed soldiers and armored vehicles are hidden under tall trees when suddenly a drone comes from above and spits fire from the top of the trees downwards. This fire is not like normal fire. It sticks to the place where it falls. As if it is molten lava. This fire burns the trees to ashes. There are explosions in it as well. Russian weapons start exploding. This fire-spitting drone has many names. In common parlance it is called flamethrower drone. In a fancy way it is called dragonfire drone. Apart from this, its real name in defense is thermite drone.
The Ukrainian army shared its video on its Telegram handle, after which there was an uproar on the internet. This type of drone is operated by Ukraine’s 108th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. First, this drone rains fire on the enemy hiding under the trees, after which it drops all the remaining weapons down. Even a few months ago, Ukraine used to rain thermite bombs on Russian soldiers. These bombs used to explode a little high in the air. After this, they used to set fire to a large area or release flammable material. These were being used especially to burn Russian vehicles.
This is a high temperature chemical. Rusty iron oxide and aluminum powder are mixed in it. The temperature of thermite reaches 2204 degrees Celsius or more, which means that whatever this type of weapon is used on, it will melt. Ukrainian soldiers also use thermite grenades so that they can attack important parts of tanks and armored vehicles and burn them. If this grenade is dropped inside the hatch of the tank, it produces so much temperature that the shells kept inside start bursting. This kills the soldiers present in the tank. The tank or armored vehicle burns.
One or more thermite containers are installed under the fire-spitting drone. One container usually weighs 2.25 kg. It burns for about 22 seconds. These 22 seconds are enough to burn and destroy any weapon of the enemy. Therefore, if there are many containers, then all are connected to each other. They keep burning one after the other. Later, these containers are dropped on the enemy.
