Union Minister Narayan Rane has expressed objection to the Shankaracharyas raising questions on the sanctity of the Ram temple.
He said that Shankaracharyas should give their blessings instead of criticizing certain aspects of the Ram temple. He also accused the Shankaracharyas of looking at Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a political lens.
Rane said in Palghar on Saturday that Shankaracharyas should explain their contribution towards society and Hindu religion.
He said, ‘Should he bless the temple or criticize it? This means that Shankaracharya looks at PM Modi from a political perspective. This temple is not built on the basis of politics, but on the basis of religion. Ram is our God.
On Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s statement that President Draupadi Murmu should inaugurate the Ram temple, Rane said he would not comment on someone who has no work and is sitting at home.
Rane claimed that the Thackeray faction would suffer more losses as 8 of its 16 MLAs are approaching the BJP-led ruling alliance and will soon join it.
In June 2022, Shiv Sena was divided after most of the then Shiv Sena MLAs left with Eknath Shinde and he (Shinde) became the Chief Minister with the support of BJP.
‘2 Shankaracharyas welcomed the consecration ceremony’
On the other hand, Vishwa Hindu Parishad working president Alok Kumar claimed that 2 out of the 4 Shankaracharyas have openly welcomed the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in the Ram temple, but none of them will attend the grand ritual in Ayodhya on January 22.
He said that he would visit Ram temple later as per his convenience. The VHP leader’s statement came after reports of Shankaracharyas of Sringeri Sharda Peeth in Karnataka, Dwarka Sharda Peeth in Gujarat, Jyotir Peeth in Uttarakhand and Govardhan Peeth in Odisha not participating in the consecration ceremony.
VHP working president said, ‘Shri Sringeri Sharda Peeth and Shankaracharya of Dwarka Sharda Peeth have welcomed the consecration ceremony. Both of them said that they are happy and have no complaints about it.
