Former MLA Bismita Gogai, who left the Congress in Assam, has made serious allegations against the party leaders without naming them.
She says that party leaders used to talk about her ‘lotus on her blouse’.
He also said that there is no respect for women in the party. More than 150 leaders of Congress and All Assam Students Union (AASU) have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday.
Gogoi has told journalists how the blouse-related incident had affected her. He also informed that even Congress leaders were talking about it.
According to media reports, she said, ‘I never thought whether there was a lotus on the blouse or not. I was wearing a lotus designed blouse, which is a normal thing.
“I find it difficult to even talk about blouses in public here,” she said, according to India Today Northeast.
This incident took place during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was taken out at the state level in Khumtai. I wore that dress during the trip. They thought it was a sign that I was planning to join BJP. Even the top leadership was talking about this issue in Rajiv Bhawan.
He told that he was deeply shocked by this incident and started crying. According to the report, he said, ‘This is an insult to women.
I was hurt by that incident. When I heard about it I felt like crying. My respect had ended that day itself.
If anti-women talks keep happening in the party, then how will people stay in the party? I was mentally abused at every step. They didn’t want to involve me in the work. I was kept away from many big discussions.
According to the report of New Indian Express, Bismita has alleged that women are not safe in Congress. He said, ‘Congress has stooped so low that they talk about my blouse.
They say there is a lotus on my blouse and that is why I am joining BJP. I am sad that they do not respect women.
I am sad that they do not respect women. I cannot take the name, but I have been told that this has been said by a Congress leader who has been entrusted with a big responsibility.
Another leader had alleged harassment
The name of former Assam Youth Congress Assam president Ankita Dutta is also among those who joined BJP. She has also accused Yuva Morcha National President VB Srinivas of harassment.
In April 2023, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) expelled him for 6 years due to ‘anti-party activities’.
