Four people from Haryana were detained for stealing a bronze vessel from the Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This traditional vessel is known as Uruli in the local language. It was used for worship in olden times. People used to keep it in secret cellars.
Police said that the accused have been identified and taken into custody with the help of Haryana Police. However, he did not give much information in this matter. “One of the accused is a doctor and has Australian citizenship,” a police officer said. She and a group of two-three women had visited the temple last week. They committed theft in the temple on Thursday.
After Barantan went missing from the temple, the temple managers informed the police. Police found the accused with the help of CCTV. Sources said that the accused were later traced to Haryana with the help of local police and later taken into police custody.
