A challan war seems to be breaking out between Haryana and Rajasthan traffic police.
The reason for this is believed to be a video that went viral a few days ago, in which a female constable was seen arguing with the conductor over a ticket worth Rs 50.
However, nothing has been said officially regarding this. Both the parties have issued challans for dozens of vehicles.
According to media reports, after the video went viral, Haryana Traffic Police started stopping Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation buses and issuing challans.
During the two days, the police also took photographs during the challan. An RSRTC conductor said, ‘They are mainly making challans for non-AC buses.’
According to the newspaper, RSRTC GM Manoj Kumar Bansal said that due to reasons like changing lane, driver not wearing uniform, not wearing seat belt, challan has been issued by Haryana Traffic Police to about 40 RSRTC buses.
He said, ‘Some challans are for Rs 500-1000, while some are for as much as Rs 5000.’ Another official said, ‘They have given challans to 39 RSRTC buses in two days and Rajasthan did this for just two hours today.’
While talking to the newspaper, he claimed that Rajasthan Police has seized 8 buses of Haryana Roadways and issued challan of more than 100 rupees. Quoting sources in the report, it has been said that challan has been issued for 90 buses of Rajasthan and 26 buses of Haryana.
The Rajasthan official alleged, ‘Their action was taken in response to the video going viral. We kept requesting not to issue challan, but it seems that Haryana Police has attached the video to its honour.
And issuing challan for our 39 buses cannot be done without orders from above. He said that such challans have also affected the morale of our employees.
Whereas, while talking to the newspaper, the chairperson of RSRTC termed this incident as unnecessary. He also said that the Rajasthan government is working to solve it.
